The article describes a new low-cost general-purpose network for
industrial applications. It defines the link and the network layers of the
seven-layer OSI model. The network layer access method of the protocol
is a combination of the polling and the token passing principles. The
results of the throughput analysis of the protocol are also presented.
Two practical examples of application of this network are also discussed.
