The paper describes an adaptive echo canceller which is based on the well-known LMS algorithm and the possibilities of the systolic realisation of an echo canceller based on the conjugate gradient algorithm. The conjugate gradient algorithm is supposed to be better than the LMS one, but it requires more computations and it is difficult to implement on a VLSI chip. The systolic array for the conjugate gradient method, which can be used in the adaptation of the echo canceller, is presented and the computer simulation for the LMS and conjugate gradient algorithm in echo cancellation is given.
